The Education Foundation of Sarasota County has created the HURRICANE IRMA CLASSROOM RELIEF FUND to help Sarasota County teachers restore their classrooms and focus on student learning.
Fourteen of the Sarasota County Schools operated as emergency shelters housing more than 19,000 evacuees and their pets. Cleanup and maintenance are now top priority at each of these schools so that teachers and students can return to their classrooms on Monday, September 18, and we support Superintendent Dr. Todd Bowden’s effort to restore schools back to their full operational status.
To assist in the effort, the Education Foundation is seeking cash donations which will be used to purchase and replenish much needed classroom supplies. Many of the supplies were used during the storm and we know how much our teachers already personally contribute to their classrooms.
